RBT stands for Registered Behavior Technician; this is the person who implements behavioral therapy for children on the Autism Spectrum in a one to one setting under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst
The first step in becoming an RBT; you must complete a 40-hour training course. There are two options for the coursework. You could either watch videos online of an ABA professional presenting the 40-hour course or, you could join my live in-person training!
“In-person training is the most effective.”
I have been in ABA for nine years, training technicians online and in person. My experience has shown that in-person training is the most effective and of course, the most fun! Online training is beneficial for those with years of experience under their belt. Those who are just starting would benefit most from in-person training.
During the in-person training, not only will you have the opportunity to meet with our team of experienced BCBAs, but you will also have the opportunity to engage in:
Once you have completed the course, I will walk you through the following steps leading up to the final exam. Soon after the class, we will meet later and have a study session to ensure that you feel the most prepared for the RBT competency and then the final exam.
“Kids can pick up on body language.”
When I started in ABA, I remember feeling overwhelmed with the information, so I couldn’t imagine how I would think if I could not interact with my trainer. I asked so many questions, asked for examples, asked my trainer to model skills that I would be expected to do, and visual aids. I would not have obtained all of these resources if my instructor had done my first training online. I learned throughout my training that many kids can pick up on body language, tone of voice, and anxiety. This is why it is vital for RBTs to feel confident and prepared when going into their first session. That is another reason I am committed to providing fun, interactive, and engaging training with the most support I can for our technicians throughout their careers at Blue Balloon!
